Achievements and Clinical Services
- Initiated the renal transplant program at AMRI Hospital, Bhubaneswar along with establishing the nephrology unit as senior consultant nephrologist in AMRI hospital, Bhubaneswar.
- Key area of focus has been on renal transplantation and so far over a period of more than ten years, a good number (more than 500 ) kidney transplants have been carried out under the care of Dr Sukant Das. A number of patients are under work up for renal transplantation at any point in time.
- Looks after an advanced haemodialysis unit with implementation of latest guidelines and well skilled manpower. Also looks into initiation, promotion, care and long term follow up of patients on CAPD. Another area of clinical interest is being an integral part of treatment of critically ill patients with renal failure.
- Has expertises in various areas of intervention nephrology such as insertion of permacath as dialysis access along with other regular dialysis access related procedures such a triple lumen and double lumen dialysis catheter insertion, insertion of percutaneous CAPD catheter, performing real time ultrasound guided kidney biopsy etc. Focus on conducting OPDS, Camps and CMES in different parts of Orissa.
- Worked as Consultant Nephrologist and Renal transplant physician in different multi- speciality hospitals in Bhubaneswar, such as Kalinga hospital, Aditya Care hospital and as associate professor nephrology at IMS and SUM Hospitals, Bhubaneswar.

Dr Sukant Das is a medical doctor with advanced training in the field of Kidney transplantation and Nephrology. He has been at the forefront of the battle against Covid 19 as a practising doctor and has been constantly raising awareness about the pandemic through his blogs, videos, and posts on social media. He has often taken a contrarian view challenging the conventional notions and narratives built around the pandemic, raising uncomfortable questions as to what could have been done to change the course of the pandemic.
